That's right, Willie Nelson! Seems he's the spokesperson for the Texas Roadhouse restaurant chain. I learned he was coming to visit the one near Satellite Beach, so I went down to check it out.

So what's this got to do with RVs or retiring? Well, if I wasn't retired, I wouldn't have been able to go. And, as it turns out, I was on the beach taking pictures for the upgrade I was doing to the Ocean View RV and Mobile Home Park site. When I finished the photos, I was a couple of blocks from the Roadhouse, I was hungry, and it was about an hour from when Willie was due -- so, what else? I went.

That guy to Willie's left? That's our waiter
Finally, Willie came inside and sat down in a booth. The only people who got to meet him were those who won a drawing -- I didn't. Consequently, all I got photo-wise was this one of him sitting in the booth (from a distance) and one of Clint, the assistant manager, with his Willie-autographed guitar! Well, all-in-all, not real exciting, eh? I take what I can get for excitement when I'm not travelling.
Willie was due at 4:00. By that time, my wife and I and a friend of ours were already sitting at a table, drinking our drinks, and waiting for a waiter to come take our order. After waiting about 30 minutes, I finally asked someone where our waiter was. It turns out that Willie was out back and about 99% of the staff was out there, too. Seems that Willie spends a good 20-30 minutes meeting the staff and signing their autographs, etc., before he comes inside. I scampered out back, took a picture of his tour bus and then (through a chain link fence) several shots of him signing autographs, doing photo ops, etc. As usual, click any photo to see a larger version.
