What's the survey for?

I was curious about what most people (not financial advisors) think about retiring and unretiring , so I assumed others who visit this website might also be curious. The primary intents of the survey were to learn what dollar amount is considered to be adequate for retirement, what amount of monthly income is estimated to be required, and whether people plan to remain employed to some extent after retirement. I also hoped to compare answers from those already retired to those of people not yet retired.

I compiled initial results from the survey and put them on a Survey Results page in January 2003. There, you'll also find a link to Survey Results 02, which contains cumulative results through January 2004. Finally, I've put together final results as of March 2006 and put them at Survey Results 03. These results are very detailed, so I'd recommend just looking at #03, unless you're really into data analyais. NOTE: These pages are on the old website, so you'll open a new window. To return here, simply close that window.
