ODDS AND ENDS

Well, I don't have a lot to say, but have some notes on a few things so decided to put together a quick newsletter.

First, to finish up that How-To in the last newsletter about connecting the converter box on your TV(s). As I speculated, when you get to a park with cable, you have to take the converter box out of the loop by disconnecting the two cables from the back of the box, connecting them together using a double-female connector, and you're set to go.

Anybody out there like to play a little golf while RVing? I found a website that lists the Golf Courses with RV Campgrounds. Depending upon your priorities, you could look at it as a list of RV Parks with Golf. Anyway, it's http://www.elmonterv.com/golf-rv-camping/ca-387.aspx and the list isn't all-inclusive, but looks like a good start.

Then there's the link I picked up from Chuck Woodbury on an RV that runs on food and water. To check it out, CLICK HERE.

What have I been doing recently? Well, I took the RV into the shop recently to get a windshield replaced, then took some time to look around their lot at some of the new RVs. Did you know that they now have Class C motorhomes with 3 slides? I didn't ... wow ... seems like that would be a little too much weight for a Class C.

Also, I've found a neat way to make Flash
presentations -- you know, those spiffy movie-like
graphics you see on expensive websites and in online
advertising. I downloaded Flash a couple of years
ago and struggled with it awhile, then gave up.
Recently, however, I discovered a website where I
downloaded a program called Flash Slideshow
Maker. Works great! I've built a couple of
presentations and am pleased with the results. Will
probably get more elaborate as time goes on.

RVing in 2012: On the right, you'll find a short
series of photos from the new 2012 movie, in which
our hero is trying to escape doomsday in an RV.

To hear what Director Roland Emmerich and composer-producer Harald Kloser have to say about 2012, click above to visit their website and go see the movie on November 13th. HOWEVER, if you'd like to hear my version of what to expect, check out my free online book found at 2012-2112.

As many of you may have surmised, Joyce and I are SciFi buffs, have seen every Star Trek episode, and most of the Star Wars at least once or twice. Then, there's my Aliens to Vegas book ... a mixture of RVing, SciFi, and Doomsday writing. But recently, I had a dream that spurred me to write my latest 2012-2112. Click there to go read it.

Recent Travel: As mentioned previously, we were looking at a neat cabin in Mentone, Alabama, that we were going to use as a summer getaway and part-time art gallery. Well, that didn't pan out, but we're still toying with the idea, but in different locations (see Upcoming Travel), We went back to Mentone in August, had another nice visit, but couldn't work out a deal that satisfied both us and the seller.

Upcoming Travel: Plans are to RV down to Ft. Lauderdale for son Steve's birthday in a couple of weeks. After that, maybe a trip to some nice spots in the Georgia mountains ... stay tuned.

Read on for notes on my latest site updates, some words about how I'd make some money if you guys would buy something off the website, Art News, and wrapping up with my RAMBLINGS.

Much new art on ArtbyJHoffman.com. If you see anything that you'd be interested in buying, email Joyce for info on size, price, etc. Also, if you have a topic, pet, or whatever that you'd like an original painting of, just let her know. RAMBLINGS

I almost forgot to mention the Universal Records Data Base website. A couple of young guys had this silly, but very original idea of letting anybody make up any kind of record and get it published online. They were on one of the talk shows recently and set a record for tapping the most audience members on the head in one minute. Make up a record for yourself and you might get famous!

I bumped into another video that I really liked, so have included it below. If you've not yet heard of Flash Mob Dances, you might as well. Looks like it's going to be more popular as time goes on. If you go to YouTube.com and search for "Flash Mob Dance", you'll see a bunch. The first I saw was the one called T-Mobile Dance done by a crowd at the Liverpool Street Station. But, the one I included below is the one that the Black-Eyed Peas did on Oprah's 24th Anniversary Show recently. Really impressive and entertaining!
