1951 Studebaker Champion - (1956-1959) Photos taken by Bob Hoffman at home in Tallahassee in about 1957. Mouse over photo to see the proud owner. My mother bought it almost new in 1954 for $1200, sold it to my brother in 1955 for $600, then he sold it to me in 1956 for $100 (which I paid in 10 monthly installments of $10). I had it until my senior year, when I traded it for the green 1956 Ford. This was my first car in which I had many adventures, delivered thousands of newspapers, and nearly got myself put in jail a few times. Note the customizing, mostly done by my brother Dick, including removal of hood and trunk emblems, adding dual exhausts (this was actually a split exhaust pipe near the rear axle to give the impression of dual exhausts), fender skirts, baby moon hubcaps, and the obligatory V8 emblem on the front fender (it was actually a 6-cylinder).
